
I offer one-to-one or one-to-two tuition and classes in my custom-built weaving studio – The Weavers Den, in Oruru, Doubtless Bay, Far North, New Zealand. Oruru is eight kilometres from the nearest small village, Taipa, which provides a variety of accommodation and services.
There is no regular bus service, so transport to here is usually by car.
Weekend Beginner
Fri lunch to Mon lunch
This is specially designed for absolute beginners, you will learn how to plan and design your project, decide on what yarns to use in view of the final purpose and what colours, make a warp, dress a loom and weave your very first piece of cloth. Price includes 2 full days and 2 half days of teaching, as well as all yarns used (except silk, cashmere and cervelt). Tea, Coffee and lunch will also be provided. Cost $ 590
Weekend Refresher

This is for someone who has done some weaving in the past and wants to get back to it. The weekend includes teaching/refreshing of how to make a warp, dress a loom, drafting and designing different weave structures and more depending on what is required. Price includes 2 full days and two half days of teaching as well as all yarns used (except silk, cashmere and cervelt). Tea, Coffee and lunch will also be provided. Cost $ 590
Weekend Retreat

You have your draft, you have your warp, you bring your weft, all you need is a loom to weave it on.
Price includes the use of the required loom for 2 full days and 2 half days, Tea, Coffee and lunch.

For a project on the drawloom you would have to use the warp that is on the loom since it takes quite some time to dress a drawloom, please inquire what is on it. $ 250

These classes are taylor made for your specific requirements.
If you are a beginner you will learn all there is to know in how to plan, design, choose yarns and colours to make your first two project. You will learn about different loom types and also be able to weave on different looms.
If you are already a weaver and want to learn more about a specific structure or family of weaves, a new technique or how to move from 4 to 8 or 16 shafts, we will do an in-depth study in that required subject.

Fiberworks PCW, Weaving Design Program
Sat 10am – Sun 5pm
Intensive study of what you can do with Fiberworks PCW, how to design, how to use shortcuts, how to make the program work for you. You need to bring your own laptop with an installed and validated version of the software. Using the Demo version means that you cannot save or print your files
Price includes 2 full days of teaching, tea, coffee and lunch. $ 320
Intensive 6 day Jacquard weaving workshop
This is not for the faint hearted! You will learn how to design and make pattern presets in Photoshop, will weave some of the samples using the different techniques that are being taught. Available in the studio are a TC-1 and a TC-2 and it depends on what sort of warp is on either loom to what you will be able to weave on them.
What you need to bring is your own laptop with Photoshop or Photoshop Elements on it.
Price includes 6 full days of teaching, tea, coffee and lunch. $ 1200
